What happens if a TV Addict has to go Cold Turkey? |

Most of us love our TVs. They provide a welcome distraction at the end of a hard day and a good way to unwind. While we may wish to have more intellectual pursuits, few of us have the energy to pick up a weighty novel, or tackle a crossword. Of course, it’s not just at the end of a day that the TV comes in to its own. While few of us would like to admit it, the TV can, at times, and in moderation of course, be a fantastic distraction for small children. A few garish cartoons, or a couple of nursery rhymes can be all it takes to ensure that lunch is prepared without the wails of a toddler following you around the kitchen. But what happens if your TV suddenly stops working? What if you find yourself having to suddenly go cold turkey? Thankfully, for the most part, problems with signal and reception are not an issue so it is important to establish whether the problem is with your TV itself, or the aerial. Poor Reception If the problem is with your TV aerial then it could be that you have a reception problem. This could be caused as a result of atmospheric problems such as a bad weather front moving in and disrupting the signal. In such a situation, then the problem is likely to pass relatively quickly and normal service will be resumed shortly. In other situations you may find that there is a problem with the location. For example, with London aerials there is often an issue with buildings interfering with signals. Generally speaking, there is little that can be done unless you can arrange for your aerial to be mounted higher than the surrounding interfering buildings. This is a process best done by a professional who will have the necessary skills, equipment and knowledge to be able to perform this safely and efficiently. General Maintenance Sometimes your TV aerial simply requires a little bit of TLC, in which case you can arrange for someone to come out and perform some routine maintenance. It may be that your aerial needs to be replaced or even updated as it becomes out of date. You may even find that the location in which it has been installed for years is no longer the optimum one, and it should therefore be moved. This could simply be moving it to the loft rather than having it as a set top aerial or, as above, moving it to the roof, or side of the building. Contact Someone No matter what the problem if it does not resolve itself quickly you should contact a professional aerial fitter to find out if they can provide you with a solution.
